Erection problems (impotence) are very common, particularly in men over 40.
Most men occasionally fail to get or keep an erection. This is usually due to stress, tiredness, anxiety or drinking too much alcohol, and it’s nothing to worry about.
If it happens more often, it may be caused by physical or emotional problems.

The Food and Drug Administration is warning patients to not take Viagra or any other male sexual enhancement products after they’ve had a heart attack or stroke. This means doctors are treating the condition with an antibiotic called Cialis and using Viagra to increase blood flow to the heart, according to the FDA.
The FDA said the warning comes from an FDA-approved drug that’s been linked to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. The FDA also said it’s the most recent review of the drug to determine if it can lower the risk of heart attack and stroke.
In January, the agency said the side effects of Cialis and Viagra can happen within six months, but that it’s unlikely to last longer.
“It’s safe to continue taking these medications if you’re experiencing any of the following,” the FDA said in a news release. “Cialis and Viagra are FDA-approved products used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).”
As the FDA approves new drugs, doctors often tell patients to try a few things before they decide to give it a try. The first is a small dose. But, if you’re worried, take it at least 24 hours after the last dose.
If you’re taking Viagra, Cialis, or both, you’ll usually take one dose in a day.
Cialis and Viagra are not approved for use in women. Cialis has also not been studied in women. And men can’t take Viagra or Cialis because their blood pressure can rise to dangerous levels if they take it in the first place.
“I can’t say I’m a very happy person. I’m not a very happy person,” said Dr. David A. Healy, a cardiologist at Northwestern University’s School of Medicine.
He started taking Cialis in 1998 and was the first to find that it increased blood flow to the penis and caused an erection. That led to a trial in 1998 to see if Viagra’s side effects could be reduced, he said.
Now, Healy says he’s taking Viagra as well, but he thinks there could be other benefits. “I have to admit, this is a great drug for me.”
Viagra is not approved for use in men with low blood pressure. It’s also not approved for use in women, according to the FDA.
The drug’s side effects aren’t limited to Cialis. “They’re not limited to Viagra,” Healy said. “The side effects of Viagra are not as common as you might think.”
Viagra is available as an over-the-counter product. But Cialis doesn’t work in the same way. It’s a prescription drug. And doctors have to give it a try. “A man who has a heart attack or stroke shouldn’t take Viagra,” said Dr. Michael Irwig, a cardiologist at Cleveland Clinic’s Cleveland Clinic Heart Center.
The FDA says the side effects can vary from person to person. A sudden loss of vision, hearing loss or other problems can happen. In some cases, a man can also have an erection that lasts longer than normal.

BACKGROUNDFor patent protection to apply, the applicant must prove that the new drug is safe and effective in treating the claimed uses and that there is a clear link between the claimed uses and the development of the side effects. This study: A case series of patients with PAH treated with tadalafil (Cialis) for 36 months demonstrated that tadalafil (Cialis) provides comparable results in terms of safety and tolerability compared with placebo. METHODS This is a case-control study, conducted in two English secondary English medical centres, of patients treated with tadalafil (Cialis) and placebo. The controls received standard treatment and received standard treatment with tadalafil (10 mg) alone or in combination with other PAH treatments. Eighty-nine patients with PAH, aged 18 to 64 years, were included in the study. The following characteristics were recorded: gender, race, duration of PAH treatment, diagnosis of PAH, treatment duration, PAH severity (modal/severe), PAH diagnosis, PAH severity and treatment outcome. The study population consisted of patients who had been treated with tadalafil (10 mg) for 36 months. The controls were patients with PAH treated with standard treatment. A total of 112 PAH patients were included in the study. The study population was similar in gender, age, duration of PAH treatment, diagnosis of PAH, treatment outcome and severity to the control group. The study population was free of PAH symptoms.
